I was so happy to once more get the front cover of Your Hampshire & Dorset Wedding in September. The next issue of this magazine also featured more images from my lavender styled bridal shoot.
Styled shoots are a tricky thing to organize. Firstly I needed a beautiful location. I'd always wanted to shoot at Lordington Lavender farm in Chichester because the beautiful hues of the lavender make a spectacular backdrop. The next thing I did was to create a mood board on Pinterest so that I could collate ideas for a theme for the shoot and also so that I was able to communicate my vision to the other suppliers involved. The next step was to get find suppliers. On my list was a cake maker, florist, hair, makeup and dress supplier.
Luckily many of my wedding suppliers from the previous styled shoots were enthusiastic to collaborate again.
THE FLORIST - Elaine Meli
Elaine worked with me on my Autumn styled shoot the previous year and did an amazing job with a limited brief. Elaine was my first choice for this shoot. Floral fleurtations is based in Lymington in the New forest. Here' what Elaine Meli of Floral fleurtations said about her flower choices.
The spectacular fragrant lavender fields themselves were the inspiration for my design and colour choices as I wanted the bouquet to have a natural, just picked from an English garden feel. I used summer classic flowers; larkspur, roses, hydrangea, lisianthus and of course, lavender heads for that unmistakable scent. For the flower crown, being such a petite bride, I used a delicate mix of small flowers to harmonize with her bouquet and the setting. So the crown is woven with white/purple tipped lisianthus, tiny sprays of gypsophilia and sprigs of lavender."
THE CAKE Mandy Black
Elmsleigh cakes in Milford on sea were a godsend when my usual cake maker backed out of the shoot at the last moment. Mandy was amazing. I showed her a picture of the cake I needed and she worked into the night to create this amazing dummy cake with flower off-cuttings provided by Elaine.
THE DRESS
Lesley from Something old something new bridal boutique in Hythe was super helpful and accommodating when I approached her about the possibility of borrowing a sample dress for my styled shoot. Once my model was selected I brought her to the bridal shop to try on some dresses. What I hadn't quite anticipated was the fact that most sample dresses come in a size 10 as standard and my model was a 6-8 do the next thing I needed to do was source a seamstress and not a local one either as my model was based in the Cotswalds.
HAIR & MAKEUP Anna Staworko-Snopko
Anna from forever beauty and hair kindly provided her hair and makeup expertise and skills. I requested a natural look with tousled hair that would compliment the floral crown.
