Kim & Dan's Super-Wedding at Southend Barns

Updated: Jan 12, 2019

Kim & Dan got married at the beautiful location of Southend Barns in Chichester. I was looking forward to shooting here as it such a stunning venue and it was my first time shooting at this location. I prepared for shooting this wedding by visiting the location a month before the wedding to scout out unique locations for Key shots. I love the look of a rustic log pile and I utilized the logs as backdrops for photographs such as the detailed shot of the shoes.

Kim had her make-up artfully applied by www.weddinghairstylingandmakeup.co.uk and her hair styled by, Jennifer Stephens in the bridal suite surrounded by her mum, family and friends and of course plenty of celebratory bubbly!

Kim's mum helped her into her gorgeous Justin Alexander dress with illusion neckline and lace details on the sleeves and when the final touches were made Kim stepped out of the luxurious en suite and presented herself to her adoring onlookers not before her sister took a little peek first which i think made a lovely documentary style shot!

After all the necessities had been completed with the registrar prior to the ceremony, guests gathered in the ceremony room which was beautifully decked out with floral creations by Blooms and Balloons (based in Portsmouth).

The thing I absolutely adored about this wedding was all of the fun super hero themed details. The bride & groom wanted a wedding which reflected them both so whilst the bride had lots of feminine elegant elements the groom had comic book themed elements such as super hero cuff links, a comic book belt, comic book roses with the bouquet themed tables with Lego superhero figures representing each of the guests.

The cake was a creative masterpiece made by Kayleigh Arney of Muffin Tops .

It was a 50% elegant bride style and a 50% Batman motif for the groom.

The day was a drizzly one but we didn't let the rain deter us. Kim & Dan came out with me for some couples photos and we were very lucky to have the rain stop just in time for #goldenhour where we made some photographs in the gorgeous golden light.

In the evening there was a disco and a photo booth set up. Guests also had the luxury of a warm open fire outside with marshmallows for toasting.

The night ended on a high with marshmallows, dancing, photo booth antics and all kinds of merriment and after all the best snaps were taken my job was done and I left the guests to party the night away!
